How to Apply Make Up

We all love to look beautiful. And make up can help bring out the natural beauty of the face and hide our blemishes and imperfections. But even the most expensive make up products will look harsh and unnatural if they are not applied correctly. Applying make up is not hard, but it does take a little patience and a little practice. Read on to learn more about the best ways to apply make up so that you can achieve a natural, healthy, and seamless look.
Foundation: Begin with a freshly cleansed and moisturized face. Shake the bottle of organic foundation well before you open it. Then use a clean damp sponge to dab a small amount of the product on your cheeks, your chin, your forehead, and your nose. Gently smooth out the foundation and blend it over the rest of your face in upward and outward circular motions. Cover the entire face with foundation, including the area one inch below the jaw line and chin. Soak up any excess oil or moisture with a tissue by gently blotting your face. Your foundation should look and feel light, smooth, and natural. If your face does not look smooth, you have not applied enough foundation. If it feels heavy or looks “made-up,” you have applied too much.
Concealer: Dab a small amount of natural concealer on a triangular sponge or on your fourth fingertip. Dot it on as necessary on trouble spots such as under the eye and on blemishes. Also, applying concealer to the inner corner of your top eyelid will help to diminish the appearance of dark circles in the eyes. Depending upon the products you use, you can apply concealer either under or over foundation. Experiment to see which way gives you the best coverage and desired effect. Either way, remember to carefully and gently blend the products to ensure a seamless look.
Eye Shadow: For a complete look, use three shades of eye shadow: a dark shade, a medium shade, and a highlighting shade. Work with your natural skin care professional to determine the colors that will work best for you. Apply the dark shade from the lash line to the crease in the eyelid. Use the medium shade on the area just below the eyelid crease and continue to the brow bone. Finish off with the highlighting shade on the brow bone and extended a just past the outer end of the eyebrow.
Eye liner: After applying your eye shadow, it is time to move on to the eyeliner. Hold your organic eyeliner as you would a pen or pencil, with the tip parallel to your eyelid. Draw a line with the eyeliner above the upper lashes, staying very close to the lash line. Be careful not to extend your line too close to the inner corner of your eye. Lightly smudge the line with your finger or a Q-tip to give it a natural look. Soften the line with a coat of dark eye shadow over the eyeliner.
Mascara: Black or brown mascaras work best for a natural look. Lightly apply mascara to the upper lashes, working from one corner of the eye to the other. A curved brush will help you control the application. A lash comb or brush can help remove any clumps and separate lashes. Let the first coat of mascara dry before applying subsequent coats.
Blush: Blush should be applied very sparingly to avoid looking flushed and flustered. Smile into the mirror to look at the apples of your cheeks. Swipe your brush into the blush, shake off the excess and brush it lightly over the apples your cheeks. Blend blush with the rest of your face using soft horizontal and vertical strokes. If necessary, cover lightly with powder to blend blush into face. For cream or gel blush, apply a small amount with the fingers and gently rub into the apple of each cheek.
Powder: If necessary, you can use loose powder to blend your make up and absorb any excess moisture. Dip a good brush into the powder and shake off the excess. Lightly dust the face using gentle upward strokes.
Lipstick: Use a coat of foundation and powder on your lips before putting on lipstick. This helps to prime your lips, keeps your lipstick from wandering, and it improves the staying power of your organic lipstick. Apply lip liner following the natural curve of your lips. Use a shade that matches your lipstick or your lips. Next, using a lipstick brush, fill in the outline of the lips. Open you mouth wide to be sure that you get the lipstick into the corners. Blot your lips with a tissue paper. If necessary, apply a second coat of lipstick and blot again. Touch up throughout the day as necessary.
